Vermont Code Camp 2017

Vermont Code Camp 2017

This past weekend, Galen sponsored and attended Vermont Code Camp 2017, the 9th annual, and biggest, code camp yet! Vermont Code Camp is a free and full day event that brings together technology community members, students and professionals from around Vermont and beyond. This year, there were sessions on a variety of software topics including programming, databases, web and more.

Galen’s own Senior Software Engineer, John Need, presented on Functional JavaScript, which went over quick tips on how get started with curries, maps, filters, folds, recursions, monads and more in your front-end. Slides from his presentation can be found here. This was his 4th year presenting at the conference!

FYI: John will also be helping to run HackVT, the Vermont Hackathon, next month!

In total there were 34 talks on 5 different tracks! You can view the full schedule with resources here.

Vermont Code Camp is organized entirely by community volunteers, with the help of several sponsors. This year the facility was provided by the Center for Communication and Creative Media at Champlain College.

The event is organized primarily by the Vermont.NET User Group with help from other groups including the Burlington, Vermont PHP Users Group.

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to put Vermont Code Camp together! Galen is proud to be a part of and support such an awesome event again! If you’re interested in how you can get involved next year contact:  to learn more or to become a sponsor!

We’re already looking forward to next year 🙂
