How long have you been at Galen, and what do you do here?

I am a Senior Consultant, and have been here for 3 ½ years.

 What does your day-to-day job involve?

I have been fortunate to work in many different aspects of healthcare, so the opportunities are very diverse.  It can be anything from workflow optimization, Value Based Care, Clinical Documentation Improvement, as well as strategic planning.  I most enjoy being on the clinical floors working with end users directly.

What is the one thing you hope to do in the role?

Every day I try to follow the motto, “Leave people better than you found them”.

 What’s kept you here for 3 years?

The spirit of collaboration and dedication is second to none.  No matter what I am working on there is always someone there to get a second opinion.  I know that if there is an issue at 1 am there are people who will help.  #ItsTheGalenWay!

 What is the one thing about yourself that you think your co-workers would be surprised to know?

I am a really open person, so I am pretty sure they know it all!

What’s one thing that not a lot of people know about Galen that they should?

Our success rate is exemplary.  Since I came to know Galen as a client many years ago it gives me a different perspective.  Kind of both sides of the coin, if you will.  I have even blogged a couple of times trying to define the Galen formula.   Is it the level of expertise, the company, the culture of collaboration, or the organizational principles?  The answer is yes!  It is the combination of all those elements across a continuum of collaboration that gets the job done.  It gives me a lot of confidence as a consultant that I do not have to know all the answers.  I simply have to pose the question to our community.

What advice do you have for prospective Galen candidates?

I have worked in healthcare for many years and working for Galen was the best decision of my career.  The culture, personal growth potential, and the authenticity makes this a remarkable organization!
