#IAmGalen: Sue D’Agostino, RN, Senior Clinical Consultant

SueDAgostinoWhat was your background prior to joining Galen, and what made you join us?

I am a registered nurse and I’ve been in the healthcare field for over 20 years.  Prior to joining Galen, I was the Director of Applications at Acton Medical Associates.   What made me join us?  I was a client before I was an employee.

Describe your role at Galen.

As a Sr. Clinical Consultant, I draw on my clinical background to use my skills in workflow analysis, optimization, application build, and physician training/support.  I am also a resource for other Galeneers who may not have as much clinical background.  Although I am most experienced in Allscripts TouchWorks EHR, I have also gained some experience with MEDITECH MPM template build and physician training/go live support.

There’s something to be said for the connections we make out in the field. Have there been any particular client/staff interactions that stand out to you over the years?

I do have a few clients and colleagues that I have met that I continue to maintain contact with. The world of HIT is a small one and you do end up making some good friends and memories along the way.

What drew you to Galen originally? And how has Galen changed since?

The integrity of the people who worked for Galen and their willingness to help out, even if they didn’t have to. That is what drew me to Galen, that is what made me hire Galen when I worked at Acton Medical, and that is why I wanted to work for Galen.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned from working at Galen?

Knowing that if I don’t have the answer to a question from a client, there is always someone who is a call, IM, or email away who can help me out.  Information and knowledge is always shared and provided freely and willingly.
