What was your background prior to joining Galen, and what made you join us?
Prior to joining Galen I worked for a large PHO physician group in Michigan. We were one of the first groups to participate in the CMS Pioneer ACO program. During my time there I was tasked with creating a data warehouse to house data from a variety of different systems and foreign data from claims and other feeds. I was also responsible for the health and wellbeing of the group’s information systems and patient data.
I joined Galen because I was looking for an opportunity that would afford me challenging work I could do from my home office, allowing me more time with my new family. I talked to the people I knew at Galen to ensure that it would be a good fit and provide the challenges that I was looking for. After discussions regarding the culture, work environment and opportunities for challenging work, I knew this was the place for me.
What team did you join at Galen and what does that team do?
Upon starting at Galen I joined the Technical Services team. This team is responsible for a variety of services including: data migrations, interface design, development and support, custom integration development, data analytics and a host of other services and solutions.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
My personal favorite are the frequent opportunities I get to work on problems that plague the healthcare industry. Many of the clients I have the pleasure of working with come to Galen because they need unique solutions for problems that don’t have readily available solutions.
Galen’s culture is pretty unique – what’s your favorite aspect of it?
I like being able to talk to my fellow Galeneers as if they are my family. I can be open and honest and even if they may not agree, they respect my opinions. Galen has some of the smartest, most energetic, and hardest working people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. We work hard, and on Fridays all get the opportunity to relax, play a game or two, and have a beer before the weekend.
What are three adjectives that you think describe the culture at Galen?
Sedulous, Energetic, Fun
Anything else you’d like people to know?
I enjoy coming to work every day. Every single day.
